Today was the last day of the Nebuta Matsuri. If you haven’t heard of it - I am not surprised at all, as it is a very small matsuri here in Fujisawa. Despite that - it was still pretty neat! I saw lots of cute kids wearing yukata and the like.

When we first arrived I was a bit disappointed there wasn’t anything I had seen in the all of the photos I’ve seen over the years of various Matsuri. No food vendors selling delicious looking food, games where you can win gold fish etc. Everybody was just sitting around on the sidewalk near the station (one stop from my station - though we walked there as it is pretty close) drinking beer and eating delicious food. Then I heard this voice from the distance that sounded a bit tired yelling “らせだ!らせだ!” (Raseda! Raseda!). I haven’t a clue as to what it means - but I am pretty sure it is the name of the big floating guy that came later.

We turn a corner and here comes this small paradish type thing. Kids dancing, yelling, playing their instruments. らせだ!らせだ! It got louder. Until I saw it coming from some speakers in the first float type thing (maybe called 屋台(yatai) - I can’t seem to find it in my dictionaries or come to a consensus at the house)).

They came by and did their thing, lots of video and photos were taken. Afterwards we continue to walk down the street. There was all of the delicious food. I wish I hadn’t eaten dinner so I could partake in the Yakitori and various other confections. Instead I saw something that looked delicious - a chocolate covered banana that I had seen someone with earlier. ¥200 well spent if you ask me.
