Nagoya

So I am here in Nagoya now. We caught one of the last Shinkansens from Tokyo to Nagoya last night, which had us arriving in Nagoya at a few minutes past 10pm. We got off the train, and we had a map of where our hotel was. Funny thing is, we couldn’t find it.Somehow, no matter which city we are in, we always end up walking through the red light district. Especially at 11ish. I think it is because of all the flashy lights. It happened when going for a walk in Kichijoji Wednesday night around 10 (it is 2 stops towards Tokyo from where we were staying). We went looking for a park, but somehow never found out, even though it is huge. We did see plenty of Yakuza though. You can always tell who is Yakuza, just because their clothes are really nice as is their hair.A man at the train station helped us while we were looking at a map, his english was really good. His directions were spot on. Except we screwed up and turned one street too soon. After wondering around the wrong street for about an hour, we finally hailed down a cab. He told us 3 lights. We were going to get in, but it just didn’t happen. The direction he was pointing though, was 3 lights towards the station, then he said make a right. So we did that. What he ment was to make a right at that light (our left) and go three lights. His hand motions did not seem to say that at all.So we get lost again, and finally just take a taxi. Once we saw the sign, we realized our original mistake. So it goes, we made it to our hotel about 2 hours after we got off the train, and all is well. The hotel we are in now is a ¥10000 a night (for two people), which is about 100 bucks. Not bad considering how large the room is.
Bicycles as far as the eye can see at the train station.
A building across the street from the hotel

Im with Jacob on this one.. Getting lost is probably the best thing to happen when your somewhere new. You learn more about your surroundings and see things you probably wouldn’t have seen before.

I was kind of hoping for some pictures of the Red Light district. I always though that kind of thing in Japan would be very taboo.
